The docman 1.5 is commercial now, it has doclink.
For docman 1.4 you need to download plugin called doclink 1.5

JCE itself has a nice link that can browse and upload pdf or word from local computer, but the pdf or word file will be open directly in browser, so DOCman is a good option if we need to force the user to download, this is especially good for files with large size.
