I can view shopping cart, but it return to home page or shopping cart page if i click checkout.

you can add
$query['page'] = 'checkout.index';//luke added

between the following lines:

$segments[] = PAGE_CHECKOUT_INDEX;
if(isset($query['ssl_redirect']))

You can search the code in router.php page

If your virtuemart is not the site's index page. You need to configure the virtuemart in Security tab:
set SECUREURL to the virtuemart url in the web site, for example,

http://abc.com/shop if this is the url for the shop.

In this way, the check out step 1 will smoothly goes to step 2 until finish.
