If your virtuemart is not the site's index page. You need to configure the virtuemart in Security tab: set SECUREURL to the virtuemart url in the web site, for example, http://abc.com/shop if this is the url for the shop. In this way, the check out step 1 will smoothly goes to step 2 until finish.
